Does Dominican require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19?
Yes. Dominican University requires all of our community members to be vaccinated against COVID-19; boosters are recommended. This includes faculty, staff and students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs who intend to be on campus for any period of time. Medical and religious accommodations will be considered. Are masks required on campus?
In accordance with updated masking guidelines from Gov. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health, Dominican University will no longer require face masks be worn indoors. While masks will no longer be mandated at Dominican, the university recommends face coverings be worn indoors. Faculty may require students to continue wearing masks inside on-campus class locations, such as in some labs where students are working in close proximity to each other.
Are you offering recruiting events and/or individual campus visits?
Yes, we offer a variety of on-campus events as well as individual visits and virtual appointments. Explore all of the options or connect with our Student Ambassadors to have your questions answered.
Does Dominican offer enrollment deposit fee waivers or deferrals?
We will continue to be supportive and flexible regarding financial hardships for students. To request an enrollment deposit fee waiver or deferral, please complete and email your NACAC Enrollment Deposit Fee Waiver to domadmis@dom.edu prior to May 1. The Undergraduate Admission Office will review your request and respond accordingly.
Will extensions be allowed for receipt of final transcripts, AP, or IB scores?
We will be flexible enough to make the enrollment process as smooth and stress-free as possible. These records are important for academic advising appointments. Therefore, please have these records sent to Undergraduate Admission before attending orientation (SOAR), if possible.
Graduate Students
Does Dominican require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19?
Yes. Dominican University requires all of our community members to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This includes faculty, staff and students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs who intend to be on campus for any period of time. Students in 100% online programs who do not plan to come to campus are exempt from this requirement, except when required by an outside agency for an internship such as in our MSW program, but are still highly encouraged to get the vaccine. Are masks required on campus?
Yes. all students, faculty, staff and visitors must wear a face covering indoors regardless of vaccination status. The requirement is based on the latest CDC and public health guidance on COVID-19. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear face coverings in any indoor or outdoor public space on campus. A face covering does not have to be worn when eating or drinking or when alone in an office or room. Exceptions will be made for those who cannot tolerate a mask because of a medical condition or disability. Please contact Accommodations and Disability Access at dss@dom.edu for accommodations.
Can I visit campus in person?
Yes. Please email us at gradinfo@dom.edu and we would be happy to schedule a time for you to visit campus. We have all of the appropriate precautions in place to ensure your visit is safe.
Can I defer my admission?
The existing policy, which allows for deferment of admission for one year, has not changed. Deferment is still available up to 12 months after the original expected start date.
Will extensions be allowed for final transcripts?
An extension to the existing transcript submission policy is not necessary, as our current policy in place allows students to apply for conditional acceptance prior to completing their undergraduate coursework. Applications can be submitted with current official transcripts that state an applicant is in the final semester of their bachelor’s degree and on track to finish prior to the start of their graduate program of choice. Submission of final transcripts will not be due until the end of their first semester of the program.
International Students
Are you accepting international students for the fall semester?
Yes, we are accepting international students. Please visit the international student application page on our website or contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at domadmis@dom.edu for information about the application process.
When will I receive my I-20?
The International Student Advisor at Dominican will issue the I-20 form after admission and once you have provided evidence of financial support. More information about student visas can be found at Student Visa (state.gov).
