Dominican University will continue to align with masking guidelines from the CDC. We recommend that masks be worn in indoor spaces throughout campus, particularly in situations where distancing is not possible and when community transmission levels are elevated. Additionally, the university encourages members of our community to wear masks if that increases their level of comfort on campus.

For the health and safety of all, and in accordance with guidance from the Cook County Department of Public Health,we will continue to monitor the recommendations of the CDC, and as situations change, we will re-evaluate our requirements.

Please note:

We ask that as a community, we continue to respect and support the needs of others during this time. We will remain committed to treating everyone in our campus community with fairness, kindness and respect as we all collectively uphold the Caritas Commitment.

Course Modalities

While we continue to monitor the health of our university community and strive to create as safe an environment as possible, we have been able to achieve a mix of course modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) that better supports student success in relation to learning goals and outcomes of particular programs and courses. In addition, we are doing our best to be responsive to increasing student preference for choice and flexibility. As a result, the percentage of face-to-face and hybrid courses has increased, especially at the undergraduate level, from what it was a few semesters ago. However, many options remain available for students who prefer online, or a combination of modalities in the semester.

F2F - Face-to-Face Scheduled on campus at set meeting times.
HYB - Hybrid Course will include a combination of online activities and on-campus meeting times.
OSM - Online with fixed class meeting times Course will have one or more scheduled online meetings; no campus attendance required.
OWM - Online with fixed class meeting times Course will have no fixed scheduled class meeting times; no campus attendance required; consult syllabus for specific requirements.
ARR Time and setting to be arranged by instructor and student.
HFX - Hi-Flex Students may attend face-to-face or at synchronous online times throughout the semester. Consult syllabus for specific requirements.
Next Steps for Support

We know that for some students, face-to-face courses are a priority while for others, online is preferred, and many prefer a mix. We are striving to create a university environment that is as responsive as possible to students’ needs.
