Faith Justice
Following Dominican’s tradition of refusing to stand on the sideline in the face of injustice, University Ministry provides opportunities for thoughtful and reflective engagement of some of the world’s deepest needs. Inspired by the Gospel and informed by rich Catholic social traditions, these opportunities address both immediate needs (service), as well as their root causes (justice). Additionally, University Ministry invites students to reflect on the significance of these experiences. In doing so, they might come to greater clarity about their part in transforming the world, as well as God’s invitation to their own transformation.
Participation in University Ministry also fosters the expression of community that is at the heart of Dominican University and one of the four pillars. The University Ministry Center provides opportunities and programs on campus that bring together students of all backgrounds to give expression to an intentionally inclusive, authentically diverse, and genuinely welcoming University community. Taking time with and for others allows relationships to deepen, strengthens the interaction and relationships of students, faculty and staff, and provides outreach to all parts of the University.

Community Outreach
Bagel Day
Bagel Day offers community, free bagels, fair trade coffee and juice, as well as opportunities to learn more about the programs of the University Ministry Center and other engagement opportunities across campus. Bagel Day is sponsored with the Office of Student Involvement.
Local Service Opportunities
Service in the Streets
Join students and staff as we prepare and provide sandwiches, hygiene packs and conversation to people who experience homelessness in downtown Chicago. There is no cost to participate, and students are invited to take part as often as scheduling allows.
Come to the Table
Come to the Table is a service opportunity done in collaboration with the Quinn Community Center in the neighboring community of Maywood. Students serve dinner and build relationships with the families who utilize the community center as they sit and eat with those they meet, while learning about food justice and community empowerment.

Dominican University Ministry partners with CRS University to connect with a global community as we, “Learn about global poverty and injustice. Educate others. Develop leadership skills. Mobilize your campus. Connect faith to action.
