Cheap Talking Wine is a good time acoustic trio offering their unique take on a number of musical influences. Playing primarily at bars, dives and honkytonks on the north side of Chicago, CTW covers of a variety of songs from the past five decades that, when you hear them you think, ‘I love this song!’

The Box Band is a 3-piece Americana/bluegrass band hailing from Chicago. Playing everything from bluegrass/blues/folk, The Box Band plays songs you know, and some you might not, with their own unique twist. The three members; Collin Nordine (Cajon), Mike Morgan (Guitar), David Hannibal (Mandolin), perform with energy and enthusiasm, providing a memorable and enjoyable musical experience. Their wide range of covers and growing list of fun original songs will leave everyone happy.

Summer Sounds: Raíces Latin Jazz
RAICES LATIN JAZZ
Raíces (Roots) pays homage to the originators of Latin Jazz such as Cal Tjader, Tito Puente and Mongo Santamaria and also performs original music composed in the same genre. The group was founded by Chicago percussionist Ruben Alvarez and is currently led by vibraphonist Joe Sonnefeldt. Since their post-pandemic return in 2021, Raíces has played to packed audiences at Fitzgerald’s Night Club and enthusiastic crowds at several area music festivals.
Dominican Volunteers Feeding Families, Youth in Need Through ‘Epic Eats’ Project
When Grace Lee started Epic Eats, a project aimed at feeding families in need on a grand scale, she didn’t expect it to continue beyond the semester.
“I didn’t think people cared enough to volunteer their time and commit to such a big project,” Lee admitted.
But the Dominican University graduate student was pleasantly surprised as volunteers from the nutrition and dietetics program stepped forward to keep the stoves hot and the healthy meals flowing to nonprofit organizations in Chicago.
