Within the mathematics major, students interested in working in the insurance and risk management industry can choose to add a concentration in actuarial studies. Actuaries have interesting and highly rated careers in the insurance and risk management industry. To become an SOA (Society of Actuaries) certified actuary, one must pass a number of actuarial examinations over a number of years and earn validated educational experiences (VEE) in economics, corporate finance, and applied statistics. This program is designed to prepare students for exam (P) and to earn VEE credit in economics, corporate finance, and the regression analysis portion of the applied statistics requirement.
